Atmosphere Explain the Origins of "Kanye West"

Atmosphere Explain the Origins of 'Kanye West'
Minneapolis's native sons MC Slug and DJ Ant of veteran outfit Atmosphere are back with their eighth studio album, or what Slug says " our forty thousandth!"

As previously reported, they're hitting the road in support of the new release, Southsiders — a nod to their South Side hometown roots — and will play a significant chunk of Canadian dates.

Plus, who knew that Mr. Indie Rap was such a huge fan of Kanye West?

Ever the family man, Slug penned an ode to his better half on Southsiders entitled "Kanye West," which Slug says was written "about the courtship with my wife." As Slug explains, he wanted to write a song "about passion — the passion in love can sometimes become really negative when it comes down to the fighting and fucking."

Well, passionate is an attribute many, including Slug, would ascribed to Kanye, yet for every person that would agree, there are another 20 who can't stand Ye's antics and general pomposity. Slug, however, truly admires West, whom he refers to as "somebody who loves things so hard that he don't care how he's perceived or judged by it. He gives so much of a fuck, that he don't give a fuck."

Slug uses this character trait to make reference to the "do or die" bond he shares with his significant other, who may not have known until this news piece that her hubby thinks, "his name is synonymous with my marriage. Just don't tell my wife!"

Atmosphere's "North of Hell" tour kicks off tonight (May 14) in Saskatoon, and you can see all the dates below. According to Slug, he is attempting to show up to the gigs and "make sure we don't suck," which is always a good thing, but you never know. You might be in for a treat, or perhaps he'll "show up tomorrow night wasted, with vomit on my shirt."

Either way, Atmosphere know how to leave an impression.
