Asamov

And Now…

Following up with the success of their single "Supa Dynamite” featuring Mr. Lif, Asamov finally drop their debut album, And Now... Asamov (not to be confused with the famous science-fiction writer Isaac Asimov) consist of Therapy, Basic, J-One-Da and Willie Evans Jr. The album also features guest appearances from J-Live, Akrobatik, Mr. Lif, Wordsworth and production on one song from the infamous 9th Wonder. If you’ve ever heard "Water in Your Cereal” by Time Machine then you’ll recognise the same sample used in "Boombox,” which stands out as the best song on the album by far. The song finds a nice contrast between a mellow piano and some old school hip-hop vocals used in the chorus that will have you chanting, "Turn up the boombox! Oh no!” Although this album might come across as average at times, their is some impressive production like on "Gonehead” where an old Motown sounding vocal is chopped up and used in the background throughout the track. Another great example of production is seen on "Seven,” where Asamov have taken a classic hip-hop drum track and added some of the funkiest Latin flutes ever. Lyrically, Asamov come across as pretty old school, which is most evident in their choruses, but overall And Now... is a decent first time out and it should be interesting to see what the future holds for these guys.
