It wasn't Toronto techno artist Arthur Oskan's first time at MUTEK, but it was his first time billed as part of the main program. The Savoy Room of Montreal's Metropolis was packed out in anticipation, and Oskan delivered a seamless set of warm techno consisting of slow, gradual builds that, towards the end, got slightly acid-y, fitting nicely with the minimalist, retro visuals. Oskan was smiling throughout, clearly at ease and happy with being the first artist at MUTEK 2011 to get a whole room moving. An auspicious start to the promotion of his album, A Little More Than Everything, which was just released on Noah Pred's Thoughtless label.
