The re-release from Santa Cruz, CA's Arsonists Get All The Girls is, to say the least, unique. The band mix a plethora of genres, from death metal and grindcore to ska and electronic, giving them an original sound that's ahead of our time. Hits From The Bow starts strong and brutal with "This Time You're Going To Get It Dirty Shirley," which demonstrates the incredible vocal work of Cameron Reed, transitioning between death metal growls and high-pitched pig squeals. The album continues along the death metal/grindcore wavelength but with a very technical and experimental style, making it unpredictable and almost schizophrenic. The six-piece band make use of keyboards and synthesizers to create their distinct, experimental deathcore sound. Garin Rosen takes his drumming to different territories on tracks like "Zombies Ate My Neighbours," which has a punk rock vibe. Arsonists Get All The Girls play with unique time structures throughout. "Limbo" is the most scattershot track on Hits From The Bow, sounding like five different songs melded into one. The band are extremely tight and the 30-minute album is both brutal yet wacky, intense yet somehow unbelievably mellow.
