Arsonists Get All the Girls in "New Form" for Upcoming Full-Length

BY Keith CarmanPublished May 21, 2009

Don't you love it when "joke" bands get all serious? That's what's happening to Santa Cruz's Arsonists Get All the Girls. What began in someone's garage as a means of having a few shits'n'giggles in 2005 has turned into what? Three albums now? Think of that when jamming with your decade-old band still hunting for a "deal."

But whatever. Who said life was fair? The point of this news piece isn't to ponder yin-yang shit but to inform. So when experimental/progressive hardcore/death metal fans pick up the new Arsonists Get All the Girls album released by Century Media Records on July 14 they might notice something a tad unusual about it.

The 11-track affair, officially dubbed Portals, features the band in a "new form, now using only one vocalist instead of their previous two-singer attack," as noted by the label. They go on to state that "the presence of one vocalist serves to sharpen the band's straight-ahead metal attack and more importantly, creates a cohesive album that flows perfectly from start to finish." Yep, that's a long-winded way to say that Cameron Reed is going it alone in screech-and-wail territory.

The CD was recorded by Zack Ohren (As Blood Runs Black, All Shall Perish) and features ingenious titles such as "My Cup's Half Empty" and "Violence in Fluid - Triceratops."

Check out AGATG's new style this summer as they plug the album with buddies the Agonist, APFP, Chelsea Grin, Attila and Execute the Sinner.
