Archy Marshall (a.k.a. King Krule) Announces Album/Book Project

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 1, 2015

King Krule has just one album to his name, 2013's 6 Feet Below the Moon, but now the 21-year-old British songwriter born Archy Marshall is already branching out with a new project. He and his brother Jack Marshall have teamed up for an art book called New Place 2 Drown, and Archy has penned the accompanying soundtrack.

The book consists of photos, poems and artwork. It aims to shed light on the brothers' creative process and their life in South London. The softbound 208-page tome will be released through Topsafe, while True Panther Sounds/XL Recordings will release a 12-song/37-minute soundtrack from Archy on December 10.

The project has also spawned a 10-minute documentary from filmmaker Will Robson-Scott. A short trailer can be seen below.

Curious fans can hear three songs from New Place 2 Drown at the project's website. To listen, you must click and hold the "Music" tab; depending on how many times you click, you'll be able to hear the songs "Any God of Yours," "Arise Dear Brother" or "Sex with Nobody." At the same site, the book is available to purchase for £20 ($40 CAD).

New Place 2 Drown is being released under Archy Marshall's given name, rather than as King Krule. The musician clearly has a penchant for multimedia projects; last year, he and Jack unveiled a gallery exhibition called Inner City Ooz.
