Halifax-based neo-soul singer Aquakultre and producer Uncle Fester have joined forces for a collaborative new album, Bleeding Gums Murphy, out today via Black Buffalo Records. To celebrate the release, they've dropped a video for album cut "Lemongrass."
The song features Aquakultre doling out soulful R&B vocals during the chorus and switching to heartfelt hip-hop flows in the verses, accompanied by Uncle Fester's synth-led, boom-bap beat. In the video, Aquakultre delivers his smooth vocals and rhymes over a payphone before linking up with Uncle Fester and celebrating in a field.
Bleeding Gums Murphy marks the follow-up to Aquakultre's debut album, Legacy, which was released in May and was long-listed for this year's Polaris Music Prize.
