Sunrise Social is a new Vancouver indie-rock trio featuring Japandroids drummer David Prowse alongside Apollo Ghosts members Adrian Teacher and Robbie Nall. Their debut album is called Saint Helena, and it's out now.

Nall currently plays guitar in Apollo Ghosts, but he serves as frontman here. Teacher handles bass and guitar, while Prowse plays drums and keys. The eight tracks that make up Saint Helena were recorded in 2017 with Jordan Koop (Wolf Parade, the Courtneys) at the Noise Floor on Gabriola Island, BC.

The songs are jangling indie pop tunes that are full of ornate instrumental flourishes and rich vocal harmonies. "Always Always" has the wistful lushness Belle and Sebastian, while "Time Theft" takes a turn into dark psychedelic pop, and "Distinctive Details" has the perky twang of a sock hop classic. The short but sweet album ends on a highlight with the gorgeous crystalline arpeggios of "The Happening."
