Arizona's Andrew Jackson Jihad are hitting the road again this spring in support of 2014's Christmas Island. Beginning in March, the folk-punk outfit will play shows across Europe and North America, with three dates taking place in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver respectively.
During last year's tour stop in Toronto, lead singer Sean Bonnette met up with Exclaim! TV to film a sun-soaked session in our backyard, where he performed oddball Christmas Island cut "Getting Naked, Playing With Guns."
While the song itself is rather dark (it references bombs, murders and gerbils in microwaves, among other things), Bonnette's innocent, quivering voice lightens the song's story, making it sound like his lyrics were lifted straight out of a colourful children's book. The result is a unique performance that provides a brief glimpse into the googly-eyed world likely hidden beneath the singer's thick sunglasses.
