Anal Cunt

You can never go back. That old adage has been around forever, but how many of us actually give it any credence? Very few and neither does Anal Cunt vocalist/leader Seth Putnam, as tenth effort Fuckin' A instantly proves. It should have been obvious many moons ago, but only now is it clear just how deeply AxCx adhere to G.G. Allin's modus operandi: the shittier it is, the "better." From solos Greg Ginn wouldn't call his own to Putnam's incessant screeching, sound quality worse than early Mayhem albums and a general halftime feel that makes the album plod along without any peaks, Fuckin' A is little more than garage rock with grindcore vocals. Equal parts funny, grating and incredibly dumb, the band recall 1998's Picnic of Love, where songs are just way too long, surpassing the point of the joke. The shortest "blast," "All I Give a Fuck About is Sex," clock in at 1:46, while other tracks span some four-to-five minutes. Although the riffs are solid, it's hard to imagine that any real effort was been put into this affair. That, in and of itself, is why AxCx are so hilariously great/bad and Fuckin' A will be summarily ignored by almost everyone, just like its numerous predecessors.
