American-Canadian soul singer Jackie Shane is recognized as both a stunning soul singer and transgender performance pioneer, and her work will be brought to a wider audience this year thanks to a forthcoming compilation from Numero Group.
The archival record label has lifted the curtain on Any Other Way, set to arrive October 20. Shining a light on the formerly Toronto-based '60s performer, the compilation will arrive in 2xCD and 2xLP sets, included with extensive liner notes and archival photos. Any Other Way marks the first artist-approved collection of Shane's work, having authored the liner notes herself.
The collection brings together all six of Shane's single releases, in addition to a glut of live sessions recorded at Toronto's now-shuttered Sapphire Tavern. Three previously unreleased tracks are also included in the tracklisting, which can be found below along with a release trailer and "Any Other Way."
