Alicia Keys Brings Jamie XX Onboard for 'Girl on Fire'

The XX beatsmith Jamie XX is gearing up for the release of his band's sophomore effort Coexist, but the young UK musician has also managed to squirrel away time doing production work outside of the band. He's helped out Drake and Gil Scott-Heron in the past, and the next person to team up with the English artist is R&B star Alicia Keys. The two get together on Keys' upcoming Girl on Fire, which hits retailers November 27 on RCA records.

A proper tracklisting has yet to appear, so we're not sure how much of the album Jamie XX is involved in, but we have a sneaking suspicion that the hazy bedroom popster might have a hand in the "heavy drums, electric sounds, reggae and future soul," that the press release promises.

The multiple Grammy Award-winning Keys is said to break out her patented vocal chops and piano skills on the LP, her fifth studio set, while other artists participating in the project include Babyface, longtime songwriting partner Krucial, Jeff Bhasaker, Gary Clarke Jr., Pop and Oak, and UK upstart Emeli Sandé.

"Girl on Fire is about finding your voice, about being unleashed and about trusting your instincts and trusting yourself," Keys said in a statement. "I can't wait to share it with the world."

The soulful singer dropped a lyric video for the album track "New Day," and will release the title track as a single on September 4. More details are expected to drop shortly.
