Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace Gets Reality Show

A couple of years after coming out as a transgendered woman, Against Me! singer Laura Jane Grace is set to explore her transition from male to female in a new reality TV show dubbed So Much More.

The program, produced by AOL Originals, has yet to receive an official launch date, but a press statement explains that the show will focus on Grace "and other members of the trans community whose experiences are woefully underrepresented and misunderstood in the media."

Parts of the show were shot during Against Me!'s tour behind their latest LP, the thematically driven Transgender Dysphoria Blues.

"It took until I was 31 to publicly come out as a transgender woman; nothing has been the same since," Grace says in a trailer, which you can watch over here.

She adds of the transitioning experience: "You build it up in your head beforehand... 'Should I transition?' And you're following through with that and you realize life's a transition, everyone's in transition, that's just the way it is... That's what I hope [the show] gives other people, too, that they feel like they're not alone in the world."

The trailer also features interviews with other transgendered people, with some praising Grace's position as a performer, which could "educate the mainstream" about gender variants.

Against Me! are currently out on the road behind Transgender Dysphoria Blues, with dates booked around the globe between May and July. None of the dates take place in Canada, but you can check out the show specifics over here.
