A fascinating look at the limited African-American presence in a musical culture that touts itself as diverse and accepting, Afro-Punk succeeds in honestly addressing the sensitive issue of race in music. Through interviews with members of Fishbone, Candiria, TV on the Radio and lesser-known individuals in the punk and hardcore communities, this hour-long documentary attempts to tackle the loaded questions of why there are so few minorities in the punk scene and how those who have found a home within this typically "white form of music are treated. The only difficulty with the film is its lack of titles, which leaves you confused as to the identities of some of the interviewees until the closing credits.
