With the Afghan Whigs set to start the next North American leg of their tour behind this year's Do to the Beast, the alt-rock outfit have unveiled a B-side from the same recording sessions. Though taking on the same brooding qualities as the LP, the loosie is a cover of giddy Police number "Everything She Does Is Magic."
Stripping away the sunshine of the Sting-sung original, the Whigs bring the tempo down and add cinematic string swipes and downcast acoustic guitar. Vocalist Greg Dulli, meanwhile, flips once-optimistic lines about a bewitching potential lifemate and takes them into a more lovelorn direction. Even on those "eeee-yooo-ohhhs." He's a master of heartbreak, that Dulli.
