Adrianne Lenker’s new solo album Bright Future is arriving near the end of the month, but today we get a surprise EP of brand new songs — i won’t let go of your hand is available for purchase through Bandcamp, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
In a statement about the new five-song acoustic EP, Lenker said that she “can’t express how sad and angry I am about this ongoing violence towards Palestinians” and joined the call for a permanent ceasefire. Here’s her full statement:
Everything I think to say feels like it is less than a micro-fraction of the power that is needed to convey the message. I can’t express how sad and angry I am about this ongoing violence towards Palestinians. The killing must stop. The need for a ceasefire is beyond urgent. Permanent Ceasefire Now!
Today I’m releasing a new collection of songs I cherish, which were recorded in the moments they were written. You can purchase this record on Bandcamp, and 100% of the proceeds will go towards the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
In June of 2022, Big Thief canceled their planned shows in Tel Aviv following outcry from their fanbase. In a statement about the cancellations, the band wrote, "We are committed to growing from this, and moving forward with the transparency, accountability and import that such a situation requires.”
