Deadline has confirmed that Wes Anderson's next film — following last year's Asteroid City — stars Michael Cera, Benicio del Toro and Bill Murray.

The rumours about Barbie star Cera making his entry into the Anderson cinematic universe, which began circulating last summer, are true after the Canadian actor was originally attached to Asteroid City. He had a busy 2023 with roles in Black Mirror, Dream Scenario, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and, of course, Barbie.

Meanwhile, del Toro and Murray have both worked with the director previously, the former making his debut in Anderson's penultimate feature, 2021's The French Dispatch, and the latter appearing across the director's filmography since 1998's Rushmore. (That was all before Murray faced misconduct claims in 2023 — but Anderson assured that he will continue working with the actor regardless.)

Written with frequent collaborator Roman Coppola, the film is scheduled to go into production this year. Any plot details or further casting information remains unknown at this point, but we all know how Anderson feels about a big ensemble, so expect a slurry of additional cast members announced in due time.

In addition to Asteroid City, the director produced The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and a series of other shorts for Netflix last year based on the works of Road Dahl.
