Tommy Wiseau will forever be remembered as the creative mastermind behind cult classic The Room, but he is looking to add another iconic character to his resumé — the Joker.
The actor/director has been campaigning on Twitter to steal the role of the iconic Batman villain from Joaquin Phoenix in director Todd Phillips' upcoming as-yet-untitled Joker origin story, and now he's even unleashed an audition tape.
The upcoming Martin Scorsese-produced project will reportedly portray the Joker as a failed 1980s stand-up comic, who turns to a life of crime to provide for his family.
And as if there wasn't already enough star-power attached to the project, Wiseau's The Room co-star Greg Sestero has kindly offered to step into the role of Batman should Phoenix concede the role to him. Hell, people have even been making fake trailers for the could-be action film.
Of course, the chances of a big-budget Hollywood film ditching Phoenix in favour of Wiseau is extremely unlikely — and his audition tape proves exactly why.
