Veteran Stuntman John Bernecker Dies After 'Walking Dead' Set Injury

Long-running stuntman John Bernecker suffered a serious head injury while onset filming the new season of The Walking Dead after falling 20 feet to a concrete floor. Unfortunately, he didn't survive the fall and has died at the age of 33.

Bernecker had 10 years of stuntman experience under his belt. In addition to The Walking Dead, he appeared in Jonah Hex, Dylan Dog, Green Lantern, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Looper, This Is the End, Old Boy, Goosebumps, 22 Jump Street, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Last Witch Hunter, Scream Queens, Get Out, Logan and the forthcoming titles Black Panther and Rampage.

In his Goosebumps role, Bernecker did motion capture for the film's werewolf monster.

After his fall, Bernecker was transported to an Atlanta hospital and put on a ventilator. Eventually, the ventilator was turned off on Thursday (July 13). Production on The Walking Dead was halted in the wake of the tragedy.
