Val Kilmer spent last weekend tweeting about actress Cate Blanchett, providing everything from an analysis of her work to fawning over her looks. Now, the actor has addressed the backlash that came with his tweet storm.
As People reports, Kilmer addressed the controversy during a Q&A at the Irvine Improv in California, at which he was introducing a screening of his one-man play Citizen Twain.
"I wrote nice things about Cate Blanchett on Twitter and now I'm a pervert," he said. "I don't know why loving an actor that's so talented is creepy, but I guess I'm creepy. … I write about all my friends. There's no story. Nothing weird."
Kilmer's tweets detailed the time he flew to Australia to meet with Blanchett, only to hang out with her husband instead. He also mentioned how he had taken a small cameo role in a film to be with her on set, in addition to having dreams about Blanchett where "her husband wasn't in either of them."
