'The Simpsons' Say Goodbye to Mrs. Krabappel with Touching Tribute

BY Josiah HughesPublished Feb 22, 2021

The Simpsons gets a lot of credit for predicting the future, but the show is pretty damn good at reflecting on the past, too. Take, for example, this week's new episode, which paid tribute to late Mrs. Krabappel voice performer Marcia Wallace.

Wallace died suddenly in 2013 at the age of 70 following a battle with pneumonia. She had appeared in over 175 episodes of The Simpsons, most notably as Bart's teacher. After she died, Bart wrote "We'll really miss you Mrs. K" on the chalkboard in the opening credits. She was also remembered further in a 2014 episode.

Last night, however, Wallace's memory was a central theme of the newest episode of the show. Entitled "Diary Queen," the show saw Mrs. Krabappel return. With the approval of her estate, Wallace's voice was used once again to voice the character, reusing dialogue that had been recorded for a previous episode.
