Brian Tarantina, an actor known for his roles in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Gilmore Girls, has died at the age of 60.

Police officers responded to his New York apartment around 1 a.m. on Saturday (November 2) morning. They found him on his couch, fully clothed, but unconscious. Tarantina was pronounced dead at the scene.

A cause of death has not been revealed, though his manager said that Tarantina had been suffering from a severe illness recently.

In addition to his role as Jackie (an emcee at the Gaslight comedy club) on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Bootsy on Gilmore Girls, his film and television credits included roles in BlacKkKlansman, The Black Donnellys and Heroes.

Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel executive producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino have released a joint statement about Tarantina. It reads:

For over twenty five years, Brian Tarantina has been in our lives. He was in Amy's first pilot. And he's been in every significant thing we've done since. He came in with that voice and that timing and he made every scene better. And weirder. Every moment was completely unique. You can't describe a guy like Brian, you just had to be there. And lucky for us, we were. We love him and will forever miss him.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan also paid tribute to Tarantina. Read her post below.
