The Coen Brothers hinted at an upcoming Western project early last year, and now more details about The Ballad of Buster Scruggs have been revealed.
Previously teased as a multi-part TV series, the director duo have now clarified that it will instead be a feature film that is structured like an anthology.
"We've always loved anthology movies, especially those films made in Italy in the '60s, which set side-by-side the work of different directors on a common theme," the Coen Brothers explained in a statement.
The film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival next month, after which it will be both shown in cinemas and streamed on Netflix.
Tim Blake Nelson will play the title character, while Brendan Gleeson, Liam Neeson, James Franco, Zoe Kazan, Tyne Daly, Stephen Root, Tom Waits, Willie Watson and Ralph Ineson also star in the film.
Joel and Ethan Coen's last theatrical release arrived in 2017 with the George Clooney-assisted Suburbicon.
