The buzziest horror film of the season is spooking its way into legitimacy thanks to Bloody Disgusting, which has officially submitted its Art the Clown-led slasher Terrifier 2 for Oscar consideration.
After seeing a massive spike in box office attention last month thanks, in part, to reports of moviegoers vomiting and fainting in theatres, the Damien Leone-directed film admittedly likely won't get much traction at the Academy — Bloody Disgusting has all but admitted that it's submitting for the LOLs — but a #OscarsForArt campaign has been launched nonetheless.
"No, it will never actually happen," Bloody Disgusting's Managing Director Brad Miska said. "Yes, it's a total goof. But you know what? The thought of having members of the Academy endure an extreme unrated horror movie that they would otherwise consider beneath them? That's just too hilarious of an opportunity to pass up."
The submission campaign even comes with its own trailer! The clip, which you can view below, bills the submission as "the most dangerous movie since The Exorcist" and threatens that Art is "coming for the Academy."
Regardless of whether Art and his demonic obsession with extreme violence and murder make it to the Oscars, he's already a favourite among Halloween picks.
