The story of Tegan and Sara is being turned into a TV show. Today it was announced that the Canadian pair's High School memoir will become a new coming-of-age comedy series for IMDb TV.
The upcoming High School series for the free, ad-supported streaming hub is being created by filmmaker Clea DuVall, Plan B Entertainment and Amazon Studios, Deadline reports.
With Tegan and Sara's 2019 memoir as the show's source material, DuVall will write High School, as well as direct the pilot. The show is described as "a transcendent story of first loves and first songs."
Deadline goes on to sum up the show's premise like this:
Through a backdrop of '90s grunge and rave culture, the series tangles itself in the parallel and discordant memories of two sisters growing up down the hall from one another. This is a story about finding your own identity — a journey made even more complicated when you have a twin whose own struggle and self-discovery so closely mimics your own.
So far, High School doesn't have a firm premiere date, but Tegan and Sara will serve as executive producers on the show, in addition to DuVall and Plan B Entertainment. Amazon Studios will produce in association with Plan B.
Tegan and Sara's most recent album was last year's Hey I'm Just Like You, which arrived alongside High School.
