Sarah Michelle Gellar has emerged from the internet ether for an IRL starring role in a new YA series titled Hot Pink, which will arrive courtesy of Amazon Studios and Annapurna Pictures.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress has signed on to lead in the Elisabeth Holm-created pilot for the project, which was loosely inspired by Elana K. Arnold's 2017 novel What Girls Are Made Of.
Arnold's coming-of-age story follows a 16-year-old girl named Nina Faye who, in the throes of a breakup, ruminates on the "conditions of love" while volunteering at a high-kill animal shelter.
Director Desiree Akhavan is also attached to Hot Pink, alongside Holm, who will serve as executive producer with Annapurna's Sue Naegle and Ali Krug.
