Red Hot Chili Peppers Prep New Documentary Film

Photographer David Mushegain has dropped some hints about a new RHCP doc

Red Hot Chili Peppers have been hinting at a new album for a while now, and while there's still no concrete announcement regarding their next LP, it looks as if everybody's favourite tube sock-wearing funk rockers are being treated to a documentary film.

This is according to photographer David Mushegain, who posted a photo on Instagram featuring all four members of RHCP. He captioned the photo, "such a rad day previewing our new @chilipeppers documentary." He also shared a birthday message for drummer Chad Smith, who turned 58 on Friday (October 25). See the post below.

Mushegain seems to be tight with the Chili Peppers, since there are numerous behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the band on his Instagram. There has been a particular flurry of RHCP-related content in the past few weeks.

It remains to be seen exactly what kind of documentary this is — a concert film, a look into their next album, or something else entirely. There will likely be a concert element to the film, since Mushegain thanked Smith for "letting me sit next to you on stage all the time."

Speaking of Red Hot Chili Peppers, bassist Flea is about to release his memoir Acid for the Children. Read Exclaim!'s 9/10 review.
