It's been three years since we last saw the iconic Natasha Lyonne in Netflix's Groundhog Day-esque fantasy-horror series Russian Doll. At long last, the streamer has set a return date for Season 2 alongside a brief video teaser.
The second season — due back on Netflix on April 20 — is said to be set four years after Nadia (Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) escaped "mortality's time loop" together. The new instalment will "continue to explore existential thematics through an often humorous and sci-fi lens."
A synopsis reads:
Discovering a fate even worse than endless death, this season finds Nadia and Alan delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan's most notorious locations. At first, they experience this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure but they soon discover this extraordinary event might be more than they bargained for and, together, must search for a way out.
Lyonne will return as star, showrunner and executive producer in Season 2 and Barnett will join her on-screen alongside Balázs Czukor, Greta Lee, Ákos Orosz and Canadian TV icon Annie Murphy (seen above), among others.
