While people are practising social distancing in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, they're still going to be able to connect with each other while watching movies and TV shows through a new browser extension called Netflix Party.

The extension is allowing people all across the world to sync up their streams with other users to host digital viewing parties and chat about what they're watching in real-time.

The third-party extension is free to download but is currently only available on Google Chrome. In the app, streams will sync up between everyone entering a party while a sidebar will be open for viewers to react to what's happening on screen.

At this time, over 500,000 people have downloaded the extension. Netflix Party explains the extension as a "new way to watch Netflix together."

Netflix Party explains the following:

Netflix Party is a new way to watch Netflix with your friends online. Netflix Party synchronizes video playback and adds group chat to your favorite Netflix shows.

Join over 500,000 people and use Netflix Party to link up with friends and host long distance movie nights and TV watch parties today!
