Neil Patrick Harris Undergoes Surgery Due to Sea Urchin Injury
Earlier this week, the How I Met Your Mother actor revealed that he had suffered a freak accident involving a sea urchin back in the summer while he climbing cliffs in Croatia.
His hand landed on a sea urchin and while he managed to get most of the spikes out himself, two remain lodged in his hand and one became infected. Apparently, it had pierced a tendon, requiring surprisingly intense surgery.
Thankfully, Harris says he is now "officially urchin free and on the mend."

Had surgery today. I tripped and hand planted onto a sea urchin almost two months ago while climbing rocky cliffs in Croatia. Most of the tiny spines I dug out myself, but two refused to leave and one got infected. Turns out it pierced through a tendon (see ultrasound video). Well, thanks to the surgical talents of Dr. Dan Polatsch and his team, I'm officially urchin free and on the mend. Only drawback - having to wear this massive hand elevating contraption for the foreseeable future (see third pic). All in all, though, I have to say: uni is still delicious.
In happier news, Harris has also landed a role in the upcoming The Matrix 4 film. Hopefully, there won't be any sea urchins on set.
Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise their roles in The Matrix 4, while Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was also announced as one of the leads.
