After inking a deal with HBO last year, Nathan Fielder is now set to team up with Uncut Gems directors Josh and Benny Safdie for a new comedy pilot.
As Deadline reports, Showtime has greenlit the pilot of a half-hour comedy dubbed The Curse.
Starring Fielder and co-starring Benny Safdie, The Curse is said to find an alleged hex wreaking havoc on the relationship of a newly married couple starring in troubled reality home reno show Flipanthropy.
Deadline notes that Fielder will play the husband, while Benny Safdie will play the role of Flipanthropy's producer. The site adds the pilot was directed by the brothers and was co-written by Fielder and Benny Safdie.
A release date for the pilot episode of The Curse has not been revealed.
Uncut Gems recently captured the Safdies the Film Independent Spirit Award for Best Director and also picked up a nomination for Best Screenplay. The brothers have reportedly been asked about helming a dark Pee-Wee Herman film.
Fielder's HBO deal, detailed last August, included a producer role along with a new pilot of his own.
