Marvel is rebooting Blade. While no release date has been revealed, it will star Mahershala Ali in the title role.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the news at the San Diego Comic-Con. Feige subsequently told The Hollywood Reporter, "When Marhershala calls, you answer."
Apparently Ali called Marvel Studios and specifically said he wanted to play Blade.
The character Blade is a vampire hunter who first appeared in comics in 1973. The original Blade movie came out in 1998 and starred Wesley Snipes. It was followed by the sequels Blade II (2002) and Blade: Trinity (2004).
The new Blade is part of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will also include Black Widow, The Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder.
