Just over three years removed from news the project had been shelved, Mark Wahlberg is reportedly in final talks to join the film adaptation of PlayStation's long-running Uncharted videogame series.
Variety reports that Wahlberg will co-star alongside Tom Holland in the forthcoming film. Wahlberg will play Victor "Sully" Sullivan, a treasure hunter and businessman who is also a friend and mentor to Nathan Drake (Holland).
The site notes that Wahlberg had been slated to play Drake when an Uncharted adaptation was first helmed by David O. Russell. That film was set for release in June 2017 before it was pulled in September 2016.
The Uncharted adaptation will be directed by Travis Knight, while the script will be written by Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. A release date for the film has yet to be set.
Created by developer Naughty Dog, Uncharted began its main series with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, released for PlayStation 3 in 2007. By 2017, the series had sold over 41 million copies worldwide.
