Leslie Jordan Thought Lady Gaga Was an Extra While Filming 'American Horror Story'

"I didn't know who she was"

How y'all doing? Actor, author and Instagram sensation for his quarantine videos, Leslie Jordan is continuing to live his best life — a no-thoughts, head-empty code of conduct that led him to mistake fellow gay icon Lady Gaga for an extra while filming American Horror Story: Roanoke together.

On yesterday's (June 22) episode of Apple Music Country's Trailblazers Radio with Fancy Hagood, Jordan admitted that he did not recognize the tiny legend when they were first introduced on the set of Ryan Murphy's long-running FX anthology series.

"The first day, I showed up and there was a girl standing there and they said, 'Leslie, have you met Stefani?' And I thought she was maybe an extra," the actor recalled.

"I didn't know who she was," he admitted of the pop star. Gaga played Scáthach, a bloodthirsty immortal witch, on the series' sixth season, after also appearing on Season 5. Maybe she was deep into her infamous method acting approach and he simply thought she was a witch... that happened to be making a little extra income as a background actor?

"They could tell I didn't know," Jordan said of the others on set, remembering the conversation that took place after Gaga walked away. "They go, 'Leslie, that's Gaga.' I go, 'Huh-uh.' They said, 'Yes, it's Gaga.' And she was just adorable."

The character actor spoke of his experience working on Roanoke with Gaga at length in a 2020 instalment of his "Pillow Talk" Instagram series, remembering how the pint-sized pair had prepared to shoot a murder scene.

"We had a scene where she was gonna blow fairy dust in my face, and then knock me down, and blind me, chase me, and then roll me over, kick me," Jordan reflected. "And then she was supposed to squat down on me and cut me with a knife."

He continued:

She took me in the woods right before we shot, and she said, "You know, I tend to sexualize all my acting partners." I thought, "Where's this going?" Well honey, she kicked me, rolled me over, and got down on me and started riding me… I didn't know what I was supposed to do! I just laid there and thought, "How do I get myself into these situations?"

One can only imagine how Gaga might get into character if the rumours that she's playing Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel — and it being a musical? — are true.
