Last year, it was confirmed — by Gaga herself and a bonkers Nick Lustko parody song — that Lady Gaga would be starring alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the new musical Joker sequel Joker: Folie à Deux. Gaga is expected to play Harley Quinn, though that assumption hasn't actually been officially confirmed.
However, today we get our first look at Gaga's character in the musical — the close-up shot shows Gaga and Phoenix staring into each other's eyes in some kind of confrontation/embrace, and you can check it out on Gaga's and director Todd Phillips' Instagrams (Phillips captioned the image with "Happy Valentines Day.")
Joker: Folie à Deux is currently set for an October 4, 2024 release. Joker was nominated for the 2020 Academy Award for Best Picture, with Phoenix winning Best Actor for his portrayal of the titular character and Hildur Guðnadóttir winning multiple awards for her score.
