'Judge Judy' to End After 25 Years
Judge Judy Sheindlin's daytime court TV show Judge Judy will come to an end in 2021, after 25 years on the air.
She made the announcement this morning on Ellen, confirming that the show will end after its 2020-21 season. Judge Judy is not disappearing completely from the courtroom or your television, though, as she revealed that she is already working on a new show called Judy Justice.
Known for her no nonsense approach to anyone who walks into her courtroom, Sheindlin has become one of TV's biggest and highest paid stars.
The syndicated program rakes in about 10 million viewers every day, and Sheindlin signed a deal with CBS in 2015 that earns her $47 million USD a year. A few years ago, CBS bought the full Judge Judy library for $100 million USD.
Sheindlin was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Daytime Emmy Awards in 2019.
