Watch Fast Friends Become Macaulay Culkin, Oprah, Guy Fieri in New Deepfake Video
See the band also transform into Greta Thunberg, Donald Trump and Gwyneth Paltrow in their "We Broke the World" clip
Published May 06, 2020Los Angeles trio Fast Friends have shared a new video for their dystopic song "We Broke the World." The clip takes on the ever-growing deepfake video trend, as the band claim they've "been on this whole 'everything is crumbling, probably best to hole up' vibe for a long ass time."
The deepfake video was created by Dexter Tortoriello, who said, "The song is really trashy and immediate and it felt like a really good idea to utilize this brand new bleeding-edge tech to create something super dumb and immature."
He added: "I barely even graduated fucking high school, but I've watched some coding videos on YouTube, and that turned out to be good enough."
The video kicks off with a deepfaked Guy Fieri, who is later joined by Joe Rogan, Tekashi 6ix9ine, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Donald Trump, Gwyneth Paltrow, Greta Thunberg, Bill Cosby, Ronald McDonald, Charles Manson, Judge Judy and more.
"We've all been making a mess for so goddamn long that we don't even see the actual mess we're making anymore," the band wrote of the nihilistic track in a statement. "There's got to be a breaking point, right? A peak oil moment. A Sting jumping around in tights moment. A Chris Paul and Blake Griffin's whining is just getting to be too much moment."
The song appears on the band's forthcoming record, HI T LO IQ, which arrives July 10 via Dine Alone Records.
