Actor Jonathan Majors was arrested in New York this weekend following a domestic dispute. A 30-year-old woman was hospitalized with minor injuries to her head and neck, while Majors was arrested on suspicion of strangulation, assault and harassment.
Majors, 33, was taken into custody and denied any wrongdoing. The woman told officers that she was assaulted, according to the New York Police Department.
Majors's lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, said the woman has since taken back her accusation of assault in a written statement. Chaudhry further told Buzzfeed that Majors is "completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows." Chaudhry said that the incident happened within a vehicle, and video evidence as well as witness testimony will prove that Majors is innocent. Chaudhry said that the woman "was having an emotional crisis."
This incident occurred amid a string of prominent roles for Majors, who stars in the recent Creed III and has a recurring part in Marvel films as Kang the Conqueror.
