September always feels more like a new beginning than January. There's something about the autumn leaves doing their thing — looking ever-so beautiful as they fall to their crunchy death — and the slight chill in the breeze that makes starting over seem not only possible, but irresistible. Paramount+ Canada is likewise reinventing itself with a slate of brand new September programming.
You probably know about May 4th and its Star Wars connotations, but did you know there's also a day devoted to Star Trek? I certainly didn't! The streaming service will celebrate in Trekkie style on September 8 with special programming hosted by Star Trek: Lower Decks' Jerry O'Connell, who plays Commander Jack Ransom.
There will also be special screenings in Calgary and Vancouver to honour the 50th anniversary of the animated series after its fourth season premieres on Paramount+ on September 7 — but you can start the party early when the original motion picture, animated series and original series arrive on Paramount+ on September 5.
The streamer's big original movie this month is called Office Race. It stars Joel McHale as an exercise-obsessed, micromanaging boss and Beck Bennett as an otherwise unambitious employee who decides he wants to one-up the man. Meanwhile, Canadian-made film The End of Sex (starring Schitt's Creek's Emily Hampshire and Jonas Chernick) follows a married couple's comedic romps (in every sense of the term) to reignite their spark while their young kids are away at camp for the first time.
For more familiar laughs (and drama), there's also Jersey Shore and Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, new episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants, all five seasons of both Broad City and Key & Peele, as well as Nick Kroll's Kroll Show.
