Gina Carano Has Been Fired from 'The Mandalorian' over Holocaust Posts

Disney+ has had an enormous Star Wars hit thanks to The Mandalorian. While the show's popularity has resulted in star-making turns for most of its cast, however, one star has just been fired. Gina Carano, the former MMA fighter who played the role of Cara Dune, has been let go from the show following an offensive social media post.

Carano has garnered plenty of controversy for her social media presence, which has included posts against wearing COVID-19 masks and those that mock people for using gender pronouns in their bio.

The last straw happened earlier this week when she compared having right-wing American political beliefs to the experience of being Jewish during the Holocaust.

"Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbours.... even by children," a post she shared on Instagram read. "Because history is edited, most people today don't realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?"

Carano deleted the post, but not before it was screenshotted and shared across social media. The #FireGinaCarano hashtag started to trend, and this time it actually worked.

A representative from Lucasfilm confirmed that Carano was not currently employed by the company, with "no plans for her to be in the future." The company continued, "Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."
