Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to Star in Shane Black's 'Doc Savage'

Each new year at the movies brings hefty batches of superhero flicks and projects starring our beloved Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, so why not combine them both? That's exactly what producers have decided to do with the forthcoming Doc Savage.

Taking to his always wonderful Instagram, our boy Dwayne announced that he's set to star in the comic book adaptation. Rather than get some no-name director, the project will be helmed by Shane Black (The Nice Guys).

Doc Savage is widely considered to be the world's first superhero, pre-dating even Superman. In his long-winded Instagram post, the Rock wrote that he's excited to play the character because "HE IS A F*CKING HILARIOUS WEIRDO."

Here's hoping the character looks directly into the camera and says "can you smell what the Doc is cooking?"

Stay tuned for more information on this project — along with the billions of other Dwayne Johnson projects currently in development — as it becomes available.
