Last year, we learned that director (and son of David Bowie) Duncan Jones was set to follow Warcraft with a new movie called Mute. While we pointed out the phonetic similarities between the upcoming project and his breakthrough classic Moon, it turns out their relationship doesn't end there. The director has confirmed that the films are connected.
As Bloody Disgusting points out, Jones confirmed the films' connection to one another on Twitter when answering a fan's inquiry:
Further, in addition to Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard, the film's cast also points to a Moon connection — Sam Rockwell is set to appear in a small role.
You can read the synopsis for the film below. Mute starts shooting next week.
Berlin. Forty years from today. A roiling city of immigrants, where East crashes against West in a science-fiction Casablanca. Leo Beiler (Skarsgard), a Mute bartender has one reason and one reason only for living here, and she's disappeared. But when Leo's search takes him deeper into the city's underbelly, an odd pair of American surgeons (led by Rudd) seem to be the only recurring clue, and Leo can't tell if they can help, or who he should fear most.
