Donald Trump Is Considering a Pardon for 'Tiger King' Star Joe Exotic

Donald Trump has declared that he will "look into" a presidential pardon for unlikely viral sensation Joe Exotic.

The subject of Netflix's Tiger King docuseries is currently serving a 22-year prison sentence for a murder-for-hire plot against his nemesis Carole Baskin, as well as illegal wildlife trading and violations of the Endangered Species Act.

During Trump's coronavirus briefing yesterday (April 8), a New York Post reporter asked him if he would consider pardoning the Tiger King star.

"One of the biggest rating hits of the coronavirus besides these briefings has been a show on Netflix called Tiger King," the reporter began. "The man [in the story] is a former zoo owner who is serving a 22-year prison sentence, he's asking you for a pardon, saying he was unfairly convicted… I was wondering if you've seen the show and if you have any thoughts on pardoning Joe Exotic?"

The president asked the reporter if he was recommending a pardon, to which the reporter responded that he was not advocating for anything. Trump then asked someone else in the room if they would advocate for Exotic, but they declined to weigh in.

"I'll take a look," Trump concluded before moving on to other questions about the ongoing pandemic.
