Spike Lee is currently working on a new film called Chiraq, and its casting news has been a point of excitement and confusion. Kanye West was initially thought to be connected, though he quickly denied he was acting in the project. Today, more information about the film's cast has been revealed.

Though he didn't land Kanye, Spike Lee does have a rapper involved, albeit a much less acclaimed one. Rapper, television personality and former Mr. Mariah Carey Nick Cannon has now been confirmed for the project to play the role of a hip-hop artist.

Other recent additions to the cast include Wesley Snipes, D.B. Sweeney and Dave Chappelle. Lee confirmed Chappelle's involvement via Instagram:

These actors will join previously confirmed cast members Samuel L. Jackson, John Cusack and Jennifer Hudson. Common was also rumoured to be involved, though his role in the film has neither been confirmed nor denied.
