Chris Evans has been a cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for numerous films as Captain America, but it seems that his time in the role has come to an end. The actor posted a tweet earlier today strongly suggesting that he has retired from playing the patriot superhero also known as Steve Rogers.
Evans posted that he had completed work on the fourth Avengers film, and he announced it with this rather sentimental message:
Evans suggested earlier this year that he would stop playing Captain America after the forthcoming Avengers film. He new tweet seemingly confirms that.

Evans' first appearance as Captain America came in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger. Since then, he has appeared in all three Avengers movies (plus the upcoming fourth film, slated for 2019). He's been the star of all three stand-alone Captain America films.Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.
