Canzine, Canada's largest festival of zines and independent print culture, is back in-person for 2022 with fall editions taking place in both Toronto and Ottawa.

First held in Toronto in 1995, the free Broken Pencil Magazine-helmed event has since expanded to hold festivals in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Halifax and beyond, introducing the public to zines and other small press publications.

This year's Canzine Toronto takes place on October 1 at the Toronto Reference Library, followed by Canzine Ottawa on November 6 at the Ottawa Art Gallery.

Each city's celebration of all things zine will feature over 200 artists, writers and vendors, as well as a number of presentations and workshops — including tarot card creation, making games based on urban legends and starting your own charity zine. Canzine Toronto and Ottawa also tout a reading series and several micro art exhibitions happening throughout the day-long events, featuring the talents of Lisa Mandel, Olivia Mae Sinclair, Julia Mata and many more.
