Boston News Anchor Alaina Pinto Was Fired for Appearing in 'Hubie Halloween'
Her cameo in the film was a breach of her contract with 7 News

There's a scene in the film where Pinto plays a newscaster on a segment called Wake Up Boston. Every female reporter that appears on screen has opted to dress up as Harley Quinn for Halloween (including a newscaster played by Adam Sandler's real-life wife Jackie).
The gag was fun, to be sure, but it was unfortunately a breach of contract for Pinto. Having worked as a traffic reporter for the Boston area's 7 News since 2016, she was fired for appearing in the film.
"Earlier this week I was let go from 7 News," Pinto wrote on Twitter. "I am posting this because I want to be open and honest with all of you. Last year, I participated in a cameo in the recently released Netflix movie by Adam Sandler, Hubie Halloween. In doing so, I mistakenly violated my contract with the station and I understand why management unfortunately chose to terminate me. I am deeply disappointed and saddened, and I hoped this would not be how things evolved."
She continued, "Thanks to all my wonderful 7 News viewers and my supportive and great colleagues at the station. Reporting the news to you every morning was an honor and a privilege. I promise to stay in touch and keep you updated on the next chapter — the future is bright!"
