Animal Collective have shared a new piece from their original score for upcoming A24 film The Inspection. "Crucible" can be heard below, where you'll also find the trailer for the Elegance Bratton-directed film.

Based on the true story of writer and director Bratton, The Inspection follows Ellis French, a young, Black, gay man who joins the Marines to provide for himself upon being ostracized from his family and opportunity.

"I wanted us to conjure the feeling of being strong but also showing vulnerability," Animal Collective's Avey Tare shared of "Crucible" in a statement. "The desire to ask a community or a loved one to have your back and support you and the expectation that it will happen."

Director Bratton shares of the scoring selection: "We were very inspired by the music of our composers Animal Collective. We wanted to create the right rhythms to blur the line between what French thinks is real and what is really happening. So those fantasy sequences could serve as the evolution of French's inner life. In essence, we wanted to create a sense of the stir craziness of the monotony of boot camp, juxtaposed with the massive transformation Ellis French undergoes. Animal Collective provides the perfect backdrop to shrink and expand the time according to the emotion."

Animal Collective's original score for The Inspection arrives November 14, the same day Bratton's film screens in Los Angeles and New York theatres. The film will receive a nationwide release on December 2.

In early October, Animal Collective cancelled a tour of Europe and the UK due to financial constraints. Previously, the group had scored a movie about SoundCloud rappers.

Earlier this year, the band shared 11h studio LP Time Skiffs, while Panda Bear teamed with Spacemen 3's Sonic Boom for the collaborative Reset.
