Following the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of indie film Rust last October, the production — including its star and producer Alec Baldwin — has reached a settlement with the late filmmaker's estate over their wrongful death lawsuit, Deadline reports.

As part of the settlement terms, Hutchins's husband Matthew Hutchins will be coming on board to executive produce the film, which is set to resume filming in January.

"We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed," Hutchins said in a statement. "The filming of Rust, which I will now executive produce, will resume with all the original principal players on board in January 2023."

The late cinematographer's husband added: "I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin). All of us believe Halyna's death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna's final work."

UPDATE (10/5 1:40 p.m. ET): According to TMZ, the criminal investigation into the filmmaker's death remains ongoing despite the settlement, meaning Baldwin and others still have the potential to be charged for their involvement.

A forensic report from the FBI this summer stated that the prop gun involved in the fatality could not have been fired without the trigger being pulled, contradicting Baldwin's previous claim that he "didn't pull the trigger."

The actor shared the news on Instagram, writing, "We are pleased to announce today the settlement of the civil case filed on behalf of the family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained the specific desire to do what is best for Halyna's son. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the resolution of this tragic and painful situation."
