While some Canadian audiences have thus far missed out on the Scream 5 fun due to COVID restrictions, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media have announced that a sixth film in the franchise is already in the works.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, 2022 Scream directors and Radio Silence figureheads Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will be returning to helm the forthcoming installation, with James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick also returning to write the script. Scream 6 will mark the second film in the franchise directed by the Radio Silence duo, following the first four, which were made by the late Scream mastermind Wes Craven.
"Working with such a wonderful and talented family of creators — and in the lineage Wes [Craven] and Kevin [Williamson] so expertly built — has been the thrill of a lifetime, and we're so excited to bring the next chapter in the Scream saga to life," Radio Silence said in a statement.
While few other details have emerged, it's safe to assume that franchise regulars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette will also participate, considering that they have appeared in each iteration of the decades-spanning series so far.
"We are tremendously grateful to the fans around the world who enthusiastically received our film. We can't wait for audiences to see what Radio Silence, writers Jamie & Guy and Project X have in store for our Woodsboro family," Spyglass and Paramount said of the as-yet-untitled project in a joint statement.
